There’s something about these curls

These curls caught my eyes the first time I saw them; a REAL African texture, tightly and beautifully crowning her head.

If I have to classify this texture, (which to me is difficult to categorize because of the many different variation among individuals), I would have to subcategorise 4C, because of it extremely curly shape.

They felt wiry and coarse to the touch. The strands appeared to be clustered at the tips, giving it a natural messy look.

They are packed together, giving the impression of low density.

“Easy-quickie job” you may think.

But don’t be fooled by the look, they may not show length, but they are definitely dense.

Lockable strands

The lack of silky smoothness of her texture creates stresses on her scalp; a good valid reason for locking right?

Locked for easy maintenance

Finally, the years of relaxing, weaving, breading…are over.

Locking her hair, is like carrying on what her strands are naturally doing (crisscrossing into each other) in a much control way.

Locked for density

By locking her hair, she can finally appreciate how much hair she has, provided the strands are rightfully distributed.

Locked for length

“What you are not born with, is what you are usually drawn to”.

LENGTH was her priority.

Locked for volume

Way to sport voluminous hair naturally. The matted strands expand in volume, resulting in a thick texture, giving the illusion of big hair. How permanent is the effect depends on how the locks are maintained; and that’s one of my main focus.
